Mr. Chad Baker serves as the Geospatial Data Officer for the State of California Department of Transportation (Caltrans). In this role he is responsible for implementation the agency’s enterprise data and geospatial governance program, he serves as Chair of the Caltrans Enterprise Data and Geospatial Governance Council and Enterprise Data and Geospatial Governance Board, and he provides leadership in implementing Caltrans’ Spatial Data Infrastructure. He also represents Caltrans at a national level regarding data governance and GIS. Prior to his current role, Mr. Baker also served Caltrans as Chief of the Office of Data Services and Technology, as Branch Chief for Statewide Modeling, and as Branch Chief for Advance Planning
Mr. Baker has been involved in national transportation activities as Chair, Geographic Information Science Committee of the Transportation Research Board; as a Member of the Data Management and Analytics Committee of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials; and as Chair, Data Management and Analytics Committee, Subcommittee on Research, of the American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials.
Mr. Baker is a California Registered Civil Engineer, and also earned a Caltrans Project Management Certificate. Mr. Baker received a BS and an MS in Civil Engineering from UC Davis.
